Top Ten Favorite Baby Games to Play 0-6 months

As we are approaching ten months with Annabelle & Scarlett and that first birthday is just around the corner it makes me think back to the first six months (yes I remember them clearly even through the X2 sleep deprivation)

So today's post is a quick one listing my top ten play time activities for 0-6 months some tried and true and maybe some you have not done?

Perhaps you have others you'd like to share or if you have a newborn you may get some helpful ideas.

Without further ado and as my children loved them all in no particular order.

1. Cuddles (OK I lied that is definitely #1) it is the earliest and nicest of play time activities

2. Peek-A-Boo now you see me now you don't

3. Like a Teddy Bear (If you haven't already see more detail ...)

4. Tummy Time

5. Story Time - Never to early to start we could not hold Scarlett for the first 4 days but we began to bond because Mummy & Daddy would go read her a bed time story every night she was in NICU

6. Baby Gym Mats - It was a sad day they outgrew these they were great for them to start concentrating with, then kicking & reaching hours of fun

7. VIP photo album - We did pictures up of all the important people in their life into a hard covered album to go through and share stories of babies love to study pictures as they can begin to focus (I noticed reactions around 14-16 weeks)

8. Dance Baby Dance swan around the room with baby on hip to your favorite tunes or own voice

9. Puppets as we headed towards the 5-6 months they became fascinated with hand puppets I had finger ones and would play things out using different voices with two on each hand.

10. Laugh Baby Laugh Games the sweetest sound you want to help develop this and it makes you all feel happy. We spent time tickling, raspberry blowing and tongue flicking(it's hilarious when they try to grab it)

How to Play with Babies on a Plane

We have just returned to Singapore from time spent visiting family in Australia, it was our girls second trip but the first they were still only eating & sleeping.

We had a seven hour flight - going over it was night time and the children slept YAY!
But the flight home was an awkward time and I knew I'd be needing to spend a considerable amount of time entertaining them.

So here are a few of my airplane playtime tips we used.

New Toys Surprise
- I had picked up some small rattle toys & chewy toys before leaving. We opened them on the plane at almost 9 months they seem to understand anticipation waiting with excitement to get their hands on them.

Old Toys Found
- A couple of days before leaving I took some of the toys away so I could use them afresh on the plane.

Find an Older Grandmother Type
-Seriously every flight has them a lovely woman who loves children - when they offer to take them for a walk or hold then say yes it's a win-win for everyone.

Peek a Boo
- Never forget this oldie but a goodie to pass a little time.

Pull it Out
- I let the children pull things out of a small bag, put it back in, repeat... It really isn't hard to clean up and it occupies little minds and burgeoning motor skills.

Don't Forget the Books
-Last but not least don't forget the books, children always love being cuddled up in their parents lap for story time it passes the time in a nice way for all.

Hope some of these ideas help on your next flight with the little bubba's

Book of the Moment - Little Quack Loves Colors

This is a bright fun story that follows the two little ducklings, Little Quack and Piddle.

It is entertainingly written and takes children into the colorful world of little quack loving the bright blue sky and piddle loving sparkly white sand…. The illustrations are bright and gorgeous.

These two little ducks are my personal favorite characters – I get as much fun reading the book as the children do listening.

The target is really for newborns to about one year/eighteen months.

I have so loved this book that I personally wrote a review on Amazon, the first time I have ever done so.

If you have youngsters I highly recommend having them fall in love with Little Quack.

Fun Outside

My daughters Annabelle and Scarlett had some fresh air fun Friday play time today.

That was unfortunately until it started raining - wow the disappointment on their faces as I bundled them inside, I think they were quite fascinated with the drops of rain coming down. When your a baby everything is wonderful and new.

My babies play with toys and crawl around the grass exploring their surroundings it gives them the air, exercise and stimulates their mind through exploration.

This doesn't just apply to babies all children can gain these benefits - so we will be posting on activities to get children outside and enjoying what the outdoors has to offer in the very near future.

In the mean time I thought I would share some photo's of the fun.

Free Rolling

From a very young age (around 2 months) my children loved this fun little playtime activity. It is an age where they want more but not too much and also an age I found extremely difficult to find activities to do.

This activity helped to rid excess energy to aid in daytime naps and the joy on their face was priceless.

What is it?  A nappy free, clothes free kick and play. It is an activity that costs nothing!

What will you need for this playtime?
A space for the baby to be free (Inside if too hot/cold OR they love it in the open air taking precautions to protect the babies skin and eyes a shaded umbrella or tree is perfect)
A waterproof or easily washable mat
Spare nappy on close hand for the quick change

As soon as the nappy is off they will kick and squiggle around in delight, it only takes 5 to 10 minutes to see them wear down when they are young and it is a great way for your baby to explore and discover their hands, feet and movement. It was in fact during one of these rolls that my daughters tried to roll clothed they didn’t even move.

Try it today with your baby and have fun!
